The skincare and makeup diplomas have given me the opportunity to learn at such a high level that I can create independently without relying on others.
As a mother of two, I’ve always been mindful of what I apply to my children. After reading your book, The A-Z of Natural Cosmetic Formulation, which served as a comprehensive dictionary of skincare terms, my curiosity was piqued.
I read it from cover to cover, which led me to enroll in your Diploma in Natural Skincare Formulation. My initial interest in skincare stemmed from makeup, so I was thrilled when the Diploma in Formulating Natural Mineral Makeup and Advanced Color Cosmetics was introduced.
Looking back at the timeline, the skincare diploma is definitely more substantive and has a lot more material, making it a longer commitment. The makeup diploma, while less extensive, builds on the knowledge I gained from the skincare diploma. I was excited to find that I already understood many of the concepts.
I layered the makeup diploma onto my skincare studies, and there was a summer when I questioned why I was taking both at once. But I realized it was simply because I loved it so much. I was finishing the makeup diploma while juggling everything else, and I truly enjoyed every moment.
One of my biggest ‘yay me’ moments was creating my daughter’s dance palette. I made samples to share with the studio owners and other parents, and they loved them!
Over a year later, I approached them again this fall about creating custom palettes for the studio, and they were already discussing the idea! That was one of my most exciting achievements.
We also designed a logo for the school, and I looked at it, thinking, ‘I created that.’ A cream eyeshadow with custom colors, all natural—I did this! That’s a major highlight for me.”
