Use natural butters, oils, waxes, thickeners, active ingredients, vitamins and texturizing ingredients to create nourishing zero waste solid moisturizers, massage and serum bars.

Zero waste beauty products can be made with basic kitchen/lab equipment. Here is a list of the equipment that you should consider using:

  • Protective clothing (eg gloves, protective eyewear, mask/respirator when working with powders).
  • Weighing scales, ideally digital scales that measure to 0.1g.
  • Heating equipment to melt ingredients, eg bowls and saucepans to create a double boiler, or lab beakers and a hot plate.
  • Containers/beakers/bowls for weighing and mixing. 
  • A thermometer. Inexpensive glass lab thermometers are sufficient.
  • A pestle and mortar or coffee grinder for mixing powders.
  • Spoons and spatulas.
  • Silicone molds.
