From beauty advent calendars to formulating her own vegan skincare: One woman’s journey to launch her own vegan skincare brand

Making your own skincare products is not only a fun hobby, but it can also be a way to take control of what you put on your skin. However, formulating effective and safe natural skincare products requires knowledge and skills that not everyone has. That’s where the School of Natural Skincare comes in. For one of their students, the School of Natural Skincare has been a game-changer in pursuing her passion for natural cosmetics.

Amy, a 42-year-old mother from Buckinghamshire, UK, had been working in marketing for most of her career. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she had a moment of realization that she wanted to do something else with her life. Amy had always been interested in skincare products and makeup, but as she approached her 40s, she became obsessed with them. She was the kind of person who always bought beauty advent calendars to see what new products were available.

Turning Vegan Presented A Challenge That Became An Opportunity

When Amy turned vegan, she realized that finding good quality, effective vegan skincare products was harder than she thought. She assumed that if a product was labeled as cruelty-free, it was probably vegan, but she soon discovered that this was not always the case. Amy became concerned that the products she was using might still contain animal products. The market for vegan skincare products was limited, and the options for her nine-year-old daughter, who had suffered from dry skin since birth, were even more limited.

In fact, we wrote an article that warns people about this called, Vegan Doesn’t Mean Natural: Embracing Natural Vegan Skincare which you might also like to read.

Amy had to make a difficult choice between her moral values and her daughter’s skin. She decided to start making her own skincare products. However, she found it challenging to navigate the world of natural skincare formulation. She would buy products with hope, only to be disappointed by their texture, smell, or effectiveness.

Amy started experimenting with making her own skincare products. However, she found that it was difficult to find reliable information and resources on natural skincare formulation. “I was self-taught through a lot of trial and error, reading books and articles online. But it was difficult to know what information was trustworthy, and I was making a lot of mistakes,” Amy explains.

Amy knew that she needed to learn more about formulating skincare products and ingredients. She started looking at various resources online, but they were often confusing and didn’t give her a good understanding of what she was doing.

That’s when Amy discovered the School of Natural Skincare Formulation. She enrolled in the Diploma in Natural Skincare Formulation online course to gain a deeper understanding of formulating natural skincare products. Amy was impressed with the program’s hands-on approach, and she appreciated the detailed explanations of the ingredients and their benefits. She felt confident that she was learning from experts who were passionate about natural skincare.

“I was looking for a comprehensive course that would teach me everything I needed to know about natural skincare formulation. When I came across the School of Natural Skincare, I was impressed by the quality of the content and the community of like-minded people who were studying there,” Amy says.

The course covers a range of topics, from the science of natural skincare ingredients to the practical aspects of formulation and product testing. “The course was challenging, but also incredibly informative and inspiring. I loved that it was self-paced, so I could fit it around my other commitments,” Amy recalls.

One of the things that stood out to Amy about the course was the support she received from the School of Natural Skincare team and the community of students. “The feedback and guidance I received from the tutors were invaluable. They were always there to answer my questions and help me troubleshoot any issues I was having with my formulations,” Amy says.

Amy also appreciated the supportive community of fellow students who were equally passionate about natural skincare.

Taking Her Skills And Knowledge To Another Level

Amy’s experience with the School of Natural Skincare’s Diploma in Natural Skincare Formulation was transformative. She learned how to create effective, natural skincare products for herself and her daughter. “I was compromising before, and now I can make exactly what I want,” she said.

She also explained, “Before the course, I was making products that were hit-or-miss in terms of effectiveness and safety. Now, I have the knowledge and skills to create products that I’m confident in and that I know are safe for me and my customers.”

Thanks to her Diploma in Natural Skincare Formulation, Amy can now do things she couldn’t do before. She can create custom skincare products that are effective and align with her values. Amy is excited about the future. “I want to help other people like me who struggle to find natural, effective skincare products,” she said.

Studying with the School of Natural Skincare has helped Amy in many ways.

The course has also opened up new opportunities for Amy. “I’ve started my own natural skincare business, and I’m now able to offer a range of products that I’m proud of. I’m also able to customize products for my clients based on their individual needs and preferences,” Amy says.

Looking to the future, Amy has ambitious goals for her business. “I want to continue to grow my business and reach more people who are looking for effective and natural skincare products. I also want to keep learning and experimenting with new ingredients and formulations,” Amy says.

Amy is currently working on finalizing her natural beauty business and skincare products, so it’s this watch this space! There’s more to come from Amy and we’ll be excited to share an update here about her business with links to her website very soon!
